7 DAYS THE GREAT SERENGETI MIGRATION SAFARI overview

This 7-day Great Serengeti Migration is specifically designed to focus on the Safari package and increase your chances of seeing the great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration. We designed the itinerary to include both the Lobo area (north of Central Serengeti National Park) and the Wagakuria area (the remote Northern Serengeti National Park), where most of the wildebeest migrations are usually found from August to October. To save you unnecessary travel time and increase your game viewing time, the journey is designed to take you back from Serengeti National Park to Arusha. The trip also includes a visit to the world famous Ngorongoro Crater.

From August to October, migration splits from central Serengeti to the north, splitting into two routes. The main group crosses the Grumeti River in spectacular stampede and into the western corridor. Enormous crocodiles have been waiting patiently to capture the wild beasts as they cross the river. Wildebeest continues to move steadily throughout the Grumeti region, crossing the Mara River and another dangerous river to reach the green pasture of Kenya’s Masai Mara.

Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro  Airport, you are greeted by a senior safari guide and taken to a hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight stay.

Arusha is a city in northern Tanzania and the capital of Arusha, the surrounding Arusha district with a population of 416,442 plus 323,198. DAY 02

    Arusha – Ngorongoro

After breakfast, you will head out to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You arrive in time to dine in the lodge, and then we descend to the crater 600 meters away to view the wildlife.

Backed by year-round water supply and fodder, Ngorongoro National Park supports a wide variety of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo and giant African elephants. Another big draw card of this picturesque national park is its dense predators, which include lions, hyenas, foxes, leopards and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye. We also visit Magadi Lake, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwest corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. Large numbers of flamingos, hippos and other water birds are commonly found here.

Meals: B, L, D. Accommodation: Karate Acacia Farm Lodge

    DAY 03

    Ngorongoro – Serengeti (Central Seronera)

After breakfast, we head to the wild Africa – Serengeti National Park – with its endless grounds, as far as the eye can see. We head to the Lobo area just north of the Seronera area (Central Serengeti National Park). Wildebeest migration usually passes through the Lobo region, which runs to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve in July / August each year, and on its way to South Serengeti National Park in late October / November.

We arrive just in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park.

Meals: B, L, D. Accommodation: Serengeti Acacia Camp

    DAY 04

    Serengeti (Seronera Area)

After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in the park. The area around Lobo and the Grumeti River has a good habitat game throughout the year. Non-migratory animals such as elephant, buffalo, gazelle, zebra, lion, leopard and leopard can be spotted throughout the year. The game view is great and you can follow the game for a long time without seeing other vehicles – really one of the forgotten corners of the Serengeti grounds. Stunning river trees can be seen along the riverbanks, and bird species like the Kingfishers and Fish Eagles can be seen here.

Meals: B, L, D. Accommodation: Serengeti Acacia Camp

    DAY 05

Serengeti (Central) – Northern Serengeti (Kogatende Area)

After breakfast, we headed north to the Serengeti National Park, also known as Vagakuria. We drove the game from the Lobo area to the Wagakuria area. As we head north, we often see giraffes, plain game, buffalos and a herd of elephants.

We arrive at lunch time at the lodge and after lunch we enjoy the afternoon game drive in the area. Wildebeest migration usually occurs in the Wagakuria region from August to October depending on rainfall patterns. The longest portion of the Mara River passes through the northern Serengeti National Park and presents the Mara River migration as its most difficult obstacle. It was amazing to witness the Wild Beast’s herd of sheep crossing the Mara River.

Meals: B, L, D. Accommodation: Serengeti Acacia Camp

    DAY 06

    Northern Serengeti (Cogatende)

After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in the Wagakuria area. The number of resident wildlife in this area of the park is exceptionally high, and the lion’s pride is up to 30, however, from August to October the area becomes a wildlife haven. It is not uncommon for the Mara River and herds to cross the Mara River for a day and then return south a few days later. Please note – crossing is hard to find and sometimes good luck. A flock can be seen beside the river and only decide not to cross or cross a few days later. The area is a stunning area with kopjes, woods, riverine vegetation and open plains similar to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Meals: B, L, D. Accommodation: Serengeti Acacia Camp

    DAY 07

    Northern Serengeti (Kogathende) – Arusha

After breakfast at camp, we set off for the Kogatende Airstrip and enjoyed the game drive on the N-Route. The group should tip the guide for $ 20 to $ 30 per day.

Early in the morning, join the scheduled flight from Kogatende Airstrip to Arusha Airport. Upon arriving at Arusha Airport, meet our driver who will lead you to Arusha.
